A CHARITY initiative to support migrant workers in Bahrain during Ramadan has been launched by OneHeartBahrain in co-operation with students.
Two American University of Bahrain (AUB) students, Mazen Emad and Omar Saba, are leading the campaign titled ‘Global Care’ under which essential items will be distributed in labour camps.
“The campaign has been organised by students, and aims to put them as the prime donors. Students have proved countless times that they are willing to give back and encourage each other,” said Mr Emad, a second year computer science AUB student and co-founder of Global Gear.
Donations being collected include clothes, kitchenware, hygiene products and basic electronics; students have been urged to drop off the items at the AUB premises in Riffa.
“Then we will work with OneHeartBahrain and our team of student volunteers to organise and package the goods to deliver them to needy community members,” added Mr Emad.
OneHeartBahrain, an unregistered charity organisation, has been distributing more than 1,000 warm and hearty meals to migrant workers at numerous locations during the holy month. The group aims to meet its goal of reaching 3,000 people in need.
