The World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF) 2024 is set to convene in Manama from May 14 to 16, coinciding with the Arab Leaders Summit.
Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the forum aims to tackle global challenges through entrepreneurship and innovation.
Organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain, WEIF 2024 boasts a rich legacy, building on the success of previous editions held in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
The event is being organised in partnership with the League of Arab States, the Industry and Commerce Ministry, the Union of Arab Chambers, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, the Bahrain Chamber and a number of local, regional and international partners.
This year’s theme, “Achieving the SDGs through Fostering Innovation and Economic Growth,” underscores the forum’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
WEIF 2024 recognises entrepreneurship and economic growth as key drivers of sustainable development. The forum seeks to cultivate an enabling environment for entrepreneurs by fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and investment in research and development. By nurturing a culture of innovation, WEIF aims to pave the way for a more equitable and sustainable future.
A wide range of topics will be addressed at WEIF 2024, all crucial to unlocking the full potential of entrepreneurship and innovation.
These include: Building partnerships to empower Arab and African entrepreneurs; Creating ecosystems where entrepreneurial ideas flourish; Smart and sustainable financial inclusion strategies; Empowering people with disabilities for economic independence; Harnessing green and blue technologies for a sustainable future; Disruption and innovation in the digital age; Unleashing the creative potential of cultural heritage; The role of universities and research institutions in fostering innovation and Utilising agricultural technology for food security.
Over the years, the forum has become a vital platform for knowledge sharing, partnership building, and investment mobilisation. Supported by a diverse group of stakeholders, including governments, UN agencies, financial institutions, academia, and the private sector, WEIF has become a catalyst for empowering entrepreneurs, driving economic growth, and advancing the SDGs.
Bahrain’s Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and Bahrain Chamber chairman Sameer Nass both spoke during a Press conference at the Bait Al Tijjar headquarters of the chamber yesterday, highlighting the kingdom’s leadership in sustainable growth and its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. They emphasised the forum’s significance in tackling global challenges through these means.
The upcoming WEIF promises to be a dynamic event, bringing together stakeholders from across the globe to unlock the transformative power of entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment for a brighter future, added Bahrain Chamber board member Sonya Janahi.
