His Majesty King Hamad yesterday attended the coronation of Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar as King of Malaysia.
King attends coronation ceremony in Malaysia
The ceremony, which took place at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur, was attended by His Majesty at the invitation from Sultan Ibrahim.
Upon arrival at the Balai Rong Seri Hall at Istana Negara, His Majesty was greeted by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and the Bahraini national anthem was played.
The King then met Sultan Ibrahim, extending heartfelt congratulations and wishing him health, happiness, and success in his royal duties for the progress and prosperity of Malaysia and its people.
He praised the strong historical relations between Bahrain and Malaysia, highlighting commitment to enhancing co-operation and joint efforts to serve the interests of both nations and their peoples.
Sultan Ibrahim thanked His Majesty for attending the coronation, expressing deep appreciation for the congratulations and sentiments that reflect the deep and long-standing ties between the two countries.
Sultan Ibrahim also praised the King’s efforts to strengthen Bahraini-Malaysian relations, wishing him good health and continued prosperity for the people of Bahrain.
The coronation ceremony began with the entry of Sultan Ibrahim and his consort into the Balai Rong Seri Hall.
The Holy Quran was presented to Sultan Ibrahim, followed by a welcoming speech from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Sultan Ibrahim then received the state sword, took the oath, and addressed the distinguished guests. The Malaysian national anthem was played, and a 21 gun salute was fired in honour of the newly coronated monarch.
The ceremony was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the King, Malaysian regional sultans, senior guests, and Malaysian government officials.
His Majesty later attended a dinner banquet hosted by the Sultan in honour of the guests participating in the coronation ceremony.
His Majesty exchanged cordial talks with Sultan Ibrahim, reflecting the close historical ties between the two countries and their peoples.
He thanked the Sultan for the welcome and hospitality that he and the accompanying delegation received.
His Majesty affirmed commitment to continuing collaboration with the Sultan to further advance the strategic relations to broader levels of co-operation and joint action to achieve mutual interests, wishing Malaysia and its people further success and prosperity.
At the end of the dinner banquet, His Majesty expressed his best wishes to the Sultan of Malaysia, thanking him for the invitation to participate in the coronation ceremony.
