National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Supreme Defence Council secretary general Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday emphasised the importance of cyber security in light of rapid digital developments.
He pointed out that Bahrain has taken significant steps to protect its digital infrastructure during a meeting with members of the National Cyber Security Centre.
The meeting was attended by Deputy National Security Adviser Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, and the centre’s chief executive Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.
Shaikh Nasser commended the efforts and achievements that have strengthened Bahrain’s position in cybersecurity and contributed to the kingdom’s advancement in this domain.
He underscored that Bahrain has prioritised cybersecurity, recognising its role in maintaining security and fostering prosperity, both of which are key pillars established by His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Shaikh Nasser noted that cybersecurity is integral to the continuous development plans for all critical sectors.
He said that the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, has taken significant steps, including digital transformation initiatives, to demonstrate Bahrain’s expertise, capabilities and optimistic outlook for greater prosperity.
These efforts are focused on enhancing secure digital infrastructure in line with the highest cybersecurity standards, he said.
Shaikh Nasser pointed to the substantial government support for the telecommunications, information technology and digital economy sectors at all levels.
This progress is driven by the dedication of Bahrain’s committed citizens, who are achieving diverse ambitions, he said.
