The Bangladesh Embassy organised an event to mark International Migrants Day and National Expatriates’ Day.
The programme, held at the embassy premises in Salihiya, educated the kingdom’s Bangladeshi community about their rights, responsibilities and safety, and encouraged them to be productive members of society.
International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission to Bahrain Aishath Shareef, Foreign Ministry chief of consular services Ebrahim Al Meselmani and senior representatives from the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Interior Ministry, Labour Market Regulatory Authority, General Directorate of Traffic and World Health Organisation Bahrain attended, along with a number of foreign diplomats.

In his welcome address, Chargé d’Affaires A K M Mohiuddin Kayes outlined the embassy’s efforts to protect the rights of Bangladeshis in Bahrain.
“It’s important to adhere to the laws and regulations in the kingdom and to uphold a positive image of Bangladesh,” he said.
Mr Kayes also called for continued partnership with the Bahraini government and international agencies.
Ms Shareef also gave a speech, thanking the embassy for hosting the event. She expressed gratitude to Mr Kayes and the Bangladesh government for their constant co-operation with IOM.
Bangladesh marks International Migrants Day and National Expatriates’ Day on December 18 and 30 respectively.
