Student entrepreneur Mohammed Mahdi has clinched first place at the Farouk Almoayyed Bahraini Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA Bahrain) for his innovative venture, Petrolas.
The University of Bahrain student topped a highly competitive field of eight finalists during the event, organised by the Entrepreneurs’ Organisation (EO Bahrain).
Omar Saba from the American University of Bahrain (AUBH) secured second place for Vivid Algorithms.
Third place was shared by Almustafa AlAani (AUBH) for Landlording and Jad El Khoury from the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) for Croozz Technologies.
The competition, held in strategic partnership with Almoayyed Computers Middle East (ACME), evaluated projects on innovation, sustainability, and scalability.
“This initiative goes beyond a competition – it represents a meaningful investment in Bahrain’s future,” said Almoayyed International Group chairman Mohammed Farouk Almoayyed.
“The calibre of ideas presented highlights a bright outlook for the kingdom’s economy.”
ACME chief executive officer SM Hussaini added that the partnership reflects a deep commitment to cultivating the next generation of business leaders through the “twin engines” of technology and entrepreneurship.
EO Bahrain president Fareed Bader said the award, inspired by the legacy of the late Farouk Almoayyed, provides a vital platform to empower national talent.
GSEA chair Bob Thaker noted that the high level of participation reflects a growing entrepreneurial mindset among Bahraini youth.
The GSEA is EO’s flagship global programme supporting students who manage businesses alongside their studies.
EO Bahrain, part of a global network of 18,000 business owners, currently comprises 37 members with a combined turnover exceeding $120 million, supporting approximately 3,900 jobs in the kingdom.
