Bahrain’s business-friendly environment has been praised for nurturing new businesses and broadening trade horizons with reputed global brands.
“Growing urbanisation in Bahrain has led to a new development vision that has opened opportunities for suppliers and manufacturers in the construction industry,” said Abbas Zakiyuddin, managing director of Mishkat Al Anwar Trading Company, an electrical trading company.
He was speaking at the first anniversary celebration of the company, which is part of the century-old A A Kothambawala Group.
Industry and Commerce Ministry assistant under-secretary for domestic and foreign trade Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa was chief guest of the event held at Crowne Plaza’s Bahrain Conference Centre. Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) chief executive Nebras Talib, MP Mohammed Janahi, French and Indian embassy representatives, senior government officials, channel partner representatives, vendors and key customers attended.
“In our one year of operations, we have been keenly aware of our corporate responsibility to contribute to the economic vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister,” said group chairman Shabbir Yusuf.
Marketing director Burhanuddin Abbas said, “We have established strong trade ties with brands such as Schneider of France, RR Global of India and regional brands such as Ducab of the UAE. We have also built a Bahraini brand called ‘INDIGO’ which has a portfolio of electrical solutions sourced from around the world specifically for the requirements of Bahrain’s urban development and construction needs.”
Shaikh Hamad congratulated the company on its achievements and extended best wishes for taking forward the legacy of the century-old Kothambawala group and supporting the progress of Bahrain.
The officials toured an exhibition of best-selling products in the company’s portfolio. Mementoes were presented to the dignitaries and channel partners.
