SWIMMING – BAHRAIN’S Asma Le Falher and Saud Ghali completed their respective campaigns in the World Aquatics Championships 2025 in Singapore.
Le Falher raced in the women’s 100 metres freestyle while Ghali competed in the men’s 200m breaststroke.
Le Falher placed a solid 56th overall amongst 82 competitors. She raced in the fourth of nine first-round heats, clocking a mark of one minute 00.53 seconds for sixth amongst 10 swimmers. The 20-year-old was just 01.55s behind heat winner Joselle Mensah of Ghana, who had a time of 58.98s.
It was Le Falher’s second appearance in the pool at the World Aquatics Championships Arena, located at Singapore Sports Hub in the zone of Kallang. She had also raced in the women’s 100m butterfly, where she clocked a mark of 1:05.53.
Ghali, meanwhile, was 35th from 38 swimmers in his event. He had a time of 2:24.00 to finish the second of five preliminary round heats in seventh place. Mariano Lazzerini won the nine-athlete swim in 2:14.61.
Ghali, who is also 20, had previously competed in the men’s 100m breaststroke in this year’s worlds, where he had a time of 1:06.50.
Three of Bahrain’s four swimmers have now wrapped up their programmes in Singapore, with 19-year-old Amani Alobaidli being the other. She raced in both the women’s 100m backstroke and women’s 50m backstroke, where she posted marks of 1:06.57 and 30.67s, respectively.
Ahmed Suhail, 17, is the kingdom’s last and youngest participating swimmer. He will be racing in the men’s 1,500m freestyle today and in the men’s 400m medley tomorrow.
The kingdom’s national team at this year’s World Aquatics Championships is headed by Bahrain Aquatics official and Rio 2016 Olympian Farhan Saleh Farhan.
