SWIMMING – Bahrain’s Ahmed Hubail had a solid outing yesterday in the men’s 1,500 metres freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships 2025 in Singapore.
Seventeen-year-old Hubail finished third in the first of three heats with a time of 17 minutes 21.71 seconds. He was 1:34.28 behind heat winner Kushagra Rawat of India, who had a time of 15:47.43. Liggjas Joensen of the Faroe Islands was the runner-up in 16:22.49.
The trio did not advance to the medal round.
Hubail is set to return to the pool today at the World Aquatics Championships Arena, located at Singapore Sports Hub in the zone of Kallang. He will be racing in the men’s 400m medley, in which he is the current national record holder with a time of 4:54.79.
Hubail is one of four of the kingdom’s top young swimmers who are in Singapore. The others are Paris 2024 Olympians Amani Alobaidli and Saud Ghali, and Asma Le Falher, all of whom have already completed their events.
