TENNIS – Bahrain's Salma Faragallah and Ahmed Alsayed were crowned singles champions of the Bahrain ATF 16U tournament, played at the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) hard courts in Isa Town.
Salma lived up to her tag as top seed and secured the girls’ singles crown after defeating second seed Fatima Albaajari from Saudi Arabia 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
Ahmed, meanwhile, won an Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) boys’ singles title for the second consecutive week in the kingdom after beating his brother Talal Alsayed 6-1, 6-4 in their championship match.
Also in the tournament, Bahrain’s Hashim Altoobli and Abdulrahman Aldoseri won the boys’ doubles title.
They beat the pair of Saudi Mohammed Alyami and Indian Parth Sane in the final 6–2, 6–2.
At the conclusion of the competition, BTF president Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa awarded the winners of all three categories.
Shaikh Abdulaziz noted that these accomplishments reflect positively on the BTF’s efforts and confirm that its development strategies for junior players are progressing.
He emphasised the importance of building a strong foundation of emerging talent to drive future successes and honourable results for the sport.
Shaikh Abdulaziz also commended the dedication, discipline, and teamwork shown by Bahrain’s players throughout the tournament and emphasised the BTF’s commitment to continuing its efforts to support player development and provide an environment conducive to growth and achievement.
The tournament was the second straight ATF 16U event held in Bahrain.
