BASKETBALL – THE Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) announced that it has assigned international referee Fatima Al Mutawaj to participate as an accompanying referee in the 22nd U16 Arab Basketball Championship for Youth.
The BBA said the participation is part of its strategy to strengthen the presence of Bahraini women in refereeing, showcase their competence at regional and international levels, and support national talent in representing the kingdom abroad.
It noted that Al Mutawaj’s selection reflects the esteemed status of Bahraini referees, the trust placed in national female officials, and her experience in representing Bahrain in sporting events.
The BBA emphasised its commitment to developing women’s roles in all aspects of the sport, including refereeing, coaching, and administration, in line with directives to empower women and highlight their contributions across various domains.
