CYCLING – BAHRAIN’S senior men’s cycling national team will be competing in the four-stage Tour of Salalah 2025 in Oman, which gets underway today.
A six-member squad is entered in the event, which features 15 teams from around the world and a total of nearly 100 individual competitors. It will cover a total of 515.5 kilometres, starting in Ain Razat and ending on Wednesday in Wadi Darbat.
The kingdom’s representatives are to be led by Team Bahrain Victorious member Ahmed Madan.
He will be joined in the race by compatriots Mohammed Aqeel Thamer, Jasim Husain, Husain Mohamed, Mahdi Kadhem, and Sayed Ahmed Alawi.
The race’s other participating squads are the senior men’s national teams of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Thailand, and hosts Oman, along with UCI Continental Tour sides Victoria Sports Pro Cycling, Terengganu Cycling Team, 7Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines, Roojai Insurance, Shimano Racing, Madar Pro Cycling Team, Jakarta Pro Cycling Team, EuroCyclingTrips-CCN, and Team Amani. The roster of teams is completed by club Team Flanders.
Today’s first stage will cover 108.2km from Ain Razat to Khor Rori. Stage two tomorrow will be 132.6km from Taqah Castle to Hajif. The third stage on Tuesday will be the longest, covering 154.4km from Al Haffa Souq to Ayn Ishat. Wednesday’s final leg of 120.3km will be from Dahariz Beach to Wadi Darbat.
The kingdom was last represented in the Tour of Salalah in its 2023 edition by Victorious Club and Bahrain Cycling Academy.
Victorious’ Ahmed Naser, also a Bahrain national team member, won the race’s second stage that year and narrowly missed out on the overall podium after placing fourth in the general classification. Sayed Ahmed Alawi was the academy’s best-ranked rider on the GC in 15th.
