Sleek designs and cutting-edge technology were on display yesterday at the dazzling launch ceremony of premium Chinese automotive brands Jaecoo and Omoda.
Alpha Motors, the exclusive distributors of the marques in the kingdom, staged the event at City Centre Bahrain in Seef District, offering guests Arab touches like a perfume station.
Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro and Chinese Ambassador Ni Ruchi were present, along with other invited guests.
The models that will be available at Alpha Motors’ showroom in Nuwaidrat are the sporty Omoda C5, the family-friendly Jaecoo J7 and the luxury SUV Jaecoo J8.
The marques made their worldwide debut in April 2023, which was followed by their official entry into Europe early last year, the organisers highlighted during the ceremony, adding that the Middle East welcomed Jaecoo’s regional parts depot by December 2024.
In less than two years, the brands have become the fastest-growing automotive names worldwide, surpassing 500,000 vehicles sold and expanding into more than 44 global markets.
“It’s a fresh start for the two brothers, our directors Yousuf Al Marbati and Ayaz Al Marbati,” Alpha Motors’ general manger Sami Buhasan told the GDN, talking about the new dealership.
“We at Alpha Motors are very glad to announce these new launches and to see that people actually like the cars – at our showroom and now at this launch.
“It’s a young company (Alpha Motors) but we are born to run, not to walk,” he added.
“We are very confident about the spare parts as we have the Middle East warehouse in Dubai and we are very keen on providing exceptional after-sales services to our customers at our service centre (same premises as the showroom).
“I would like to invite people to visit us and test drive the cars. If you don’t test them, touch them, you won’t know the difference between the Omoda and Jaecoo, and other Chinese brands.”
