A MAN is set to go on trial at the High Criminal Court on October 7 on charges of human trafficking and forced labour, the Public Prosecution announced yesterday.
The suspect, identified only as an Asian, allegedly sexually exploited two victims, making them work long hours with no time off and in inappropriate conditions. The two expatriate victims, whose gender was not specified, had come to Bahrain to work.
The accused allegedly took away their passports and deprived them of their freedom upon their arrival.
Prosecutors received a report about the suspected trafficking from the Anti-Human Trafficking Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, and began its investigation into the matter.
The two alleged victims were moved to a shelter run by the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons.
