His Majesty King Hamad has directed officials to swiftly implement housing projects in Muharraq.
He underscored the importance of providing all necessary services and infrastructure, alleviating traffic congestion, ensuring smooth mobility for residents and visitors and providing suitable housing for workers outside the city.
The royal directives came when His Majesty received Muharraq Governor Salman Bin Hindi at Safriya Palace yesterday.
The King tasked the governor with co-ordinating with relevant government entities to execute the city’s development projects according to the established timeline.
The meeting was attended by His Majesty’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Royal Court Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the King’s adviser for Youth and Sports Affairs Saleh Bin Hindi, Minister of Public Affairs at the Royal Court Dr Majid Al Nuaimi and Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma.
The meeting reviewed progress on the Muharraq City Development Plan, emphasising the preservation of its historical and cultural identity.
His Majesty underscored his keenness to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities.
He highlighted the importance of the development plan and emphasised Muharraq’s historical significance, the authenticity and continuous contributions of its people, as well as its role in Bahrain’s history.
The King’s adviser and the Governor expressed their gratitude to His Majesty for the development projects that preserve the city’s heritage, historic buildings and infrastructure.
