Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant against suspicious emails and links following reports of a data leak involving booking.com.
The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security warned that fraudsters may exploit leaked customer information to conduct phishing scams and other fraudulent activities.
Citizens and residents have been advised to verify all emails and messages by checking directly through the platform’s official application or website to ensure they originate from legitimate sources.
The directorate also cautioned against sharing personal or financial information through unverified emails or links, stressing that such practices are essential to protecting individuals from financial loss.
In addition, authorities highlighted a growing trend of scammers using artificial intelligence (AI) to produce fake news clips that claim individuals are recommending investing in ‘profitable’ ventures. These scams often involve impersonation of well-known public figures or government officials to gain victims’ trust.
Officials confirmed that no such investment opportunities exist and warned that the sole intention of these schemes is to steal money from unsuspecting victims.
Anyone who encounters such scams or falls victim to fraudulent activity is encouraged to contact the General Directorate via the 992 hotline.
