His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV.
The meeting took place as part of His Royal Highness’ official visit to the Vatican City State and the Italian Republic.
His Royal Highness affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, to strengthening bilateral relations with the Vatican City State, and fostering the values of tolerance and coexistence around the world.
His Royal Highness underscored the importance of enhancing joint coordination and broadening cooperation across diverse fields to realise shared strategic aspirations.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad also conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty the King to His Holiness the Pope, expressing hopes for the Vatican’s enduring prosperity. His Holiness Pope Leo XIV reciprocated with greetings to His Majesty the King, along with his wishes for the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continued progress and prosperity.
His Royal Highness affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to the values of mutual respect and its dedication to defending religious freedom and upholding the right to worship.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad highlighted that the strong presence of mosques, churches, and temples in Bahrain embodies the Kingdom’s spirit of peace and harmony, as well as its historic commitment to openness and dialogue among civilisations and cultures.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad outlined the leading role of the Vatican in promoting religious coexistence and understanding, advancing global solidarity between faiths.
His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation for the efforts of His Holiness in advancing the values of coexistence, and the promotion of tolerance, compassion, and peace, and wished him continued health and success in his noble humanitarian endeavours.
Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
