His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, yesterday met the outgoing Commander of the US Naval Forces Central Command, US Fifth Fleet, and Combined Maritime Forces, Vice Admiral George M Wikoff, at Gudaibiya Palace.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the longstanding partnership between Bahrain and the US, one strengthened by multi-sectoral collaboration, particularly in the military and defence sectors.
He underscored the importance of enhancing these ties and advancing further co-operation aligned with critical agreements, like the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (CSIPA).
HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Vice Admiral Wikoff for deepening bilateral ties during his tenure as Commander of the US Naval Forces Central Command, US Fifth Fleet, and Combined Maritime Forces, and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The two sides reviewed recent regional and international developments and exchanged views on issues of shared concern.
HRH Prince Salman reaffirmed the role of the US, alongside allied countries, in promoting regional and global security, stability and development.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and several senior officials also attended the meeting.
