PARALYMPICS – BAHRAIN Paralympic Committee (BPC) president Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa received the flag for the 2026 World Para Powerlifting Championships from Egyptian Paralympic Committee president Dr Hossam Eldin Mostafa at the conclusion of the world championships, held the Egyptian capital Cairo.
Shaikh Mohamed expressed his pride in the kingdom winning the rights to host the international event, which will take place next year. He affirmed that this achievement reflects the confidence of the International Para Powerlifting Federation and the International Paralympic Committee in Bahrain’s efficiency and distinguished organisational capabilities.
Shaikh Mohamed indicated that gaining the honour of hosting this major sporting occasion is a culmination of the continuous successes achieved by Bahrain in organising continental and international championships in past years, and the pioneering organisational experiences provided by the BPC, characterised by professionalism and high readiness in various technical and logistical aspects.
Shaikh Mohamed affirmed that the BPC is moving forward with attracting and organising the most prominent global and continental championships, in support of Paralympic athletes, and to enhance opportunities for their development and expand the base of participants. He also stressed that preparations for the Bahrain 2026 World Para Powerlifting Championships have begun early to ensure the event is put together in a manner befitting Bahrain’s status and honourable sporting history.
