Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has publicly expressed doubts about Lionel Messi's status as the greatest football player of all time during an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan.
This statement comes in the wake of ongoing debates among fans about who deserves the title, as both players are approaching the end of their illustrious careers.
In his candid response to Morgan's question, Ronaldo stated, "Messi better than me? I don't agree with that opinion."
"I don't want to be humble," he added, highlighting his distinctive personality that often shuns humility.
The interview also touched upon past comments made by Wayne Rooney, Ronaldo's former Manchester United teammate, who had previously indicated his preference for Messi when he stated, "I think Messi's incredible. I think he's the best ever."
Rooney noted that if it weren't for Messi's extraordinary talent, Ronaldo would likely have won numerous awards himself.
However, Rooney clarified that his admiration for Ronaldo remains strong despite his preference for Messi, stating on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast that he loves Ronaldo and is in awe of his abilities.
Currently, Ronaldo plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and Messi is with Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
