Bahrain bagged a silver medal in equestrian endurance this morning to wrap up their historic participation as hosts of the third Asian Youth Games.
The squad of Sultan Alromaihi, Abdulrahman Alkhatri, Faisal Alanezi, Bader Alanezi, Nayef Sabt, and Aseel Alsendi finished as runners-up in the teams’ category of the gruelling 119-kilometre ride, which began on Thursday afternoon and ended today at Bahrain International Endurance Village in Sakhir.
The Bahrainis completed the race distance in 15 hours 58 minutes and 28 seconds, more than an hour-and-a-half behind gold-medallists the UAE, who triumphed in 14:14:54. Saudi Arabia claimed the teams’ bronze medals in 18:45:34.
Their silver brought Bahrain’s overall medal haul to 13 as they signed off from the third Asian Youth Games. Their winnings include five gold, five silver, and three bronze medals.
