Skills Bahrain, an initiative under the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), collaborated with the Education Ministry to host a training workshop aimed at enhancing academic counsellors’ awareness of current labour market demands and guiding students towards future-oriented careers.
The session brought together 100 academic counsellors from private schools. It focused on equipping them with tools like the National Occupational Standards, Skills Reports, and Career Pathway Maps provided by Skills Bahrain. Participants also used the Employability Skills Portal – developed with the Information and eGovernment Authority – which provides data on in-demand skills and occupations.
Skills Bahrain managing director Amer Marhoon said the collaboration reflects a shared vision of “promoting early career awareness and guiding students to pursue career pathways that align with their aspirations and future economic opportunities.”
The workshop trained counsellors on integrating these market-driven resources into their guidance plans to support students in making informed academic and career choices.
Lulwa Al Muhanna, director of private schools licensing and follow-up at the Education Ministry, emphasised that empowering academic counsellors is key to strengthening the quality of guidance and ensuring it is informed by reliable labour-market data.
Skills Bahrain works closely with employers and education providers to bridge the skills gap, contributing to the transition from education to employment for Bahraini talent.
