Bahrain’s Jhon Lopez has captured a sensational golden double in his weightlifting competition this evening in the third Asian Youth Games.
Competing in the boys’ 94kg weight class, Lopez bagged his first gold medal in snatch with a best lift of 160kg, which is a new Asian youth record.
He then clinched clean and jerk gold with a top attempt of 186kg in the event’s very last lift.
Lopez's two gold medals brought the kingdom's medal tally to 11, including five gold, four silver, and two bronze medals.
