FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-23 Olympic football team were yesterday drawn in a tough Group A for the U23 Gulf Cup 2025, set to be held in Qatar next month.
The competition is being organised by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF), and it is set to feature eight teams from across the region.
The AGCFF conducted the draw yesterday at its headquarters in Doha via video conferencing technology. It placed Bahrain in Group A along with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and hosts Qatar for the preliminary round. Group B features the UAE, Oman, Iraq, and Yemen.
Bahrain’s under-23 squad, coached by Ali Abdulmajeed, recently missed out on qualifying for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026, but will be looking to end the calendar year on a positive note in the AGCC competition, which will be held from December 4 to 16.
