Bahrain is aiming to host its largest TEDx event this weekend that will bring together visionaries and innovators for a day of transformative ideas and conversations.
TEDxDilmun, which is expected to draw around 500 attendees, will be held on Saturday from 10am to 6pm at Raffles Al Areen Palace.
TEDx events are designed to share ‘ideas worth spreading’ through concise, impactful talks – each under 18 minutes – that spark curiosity, inspire action and strengthen communities.
Speakers often include experts, educators, entrepreneurs and storytellers who offer fresh perspectives on a wide range of subjects.

“This project is more than just a series of events – it is a movement designed to redefine the standard for thought leadership in the region,” TEDxDilmun executive director Soraya Sarif said in a statement.
“We are creating a dynamic space where visionary leaders, bold thinkers and change-makers come together to ignite transformative conversations, forge meaningful connections and shape the future of our societies.”
This year’s theme, Edge, invites participants to push boundaries, rethink possibilities and embrace the power of human connection.
“Fourteen speakers will be discussing topics such as endurance, belonging, empathy and policy, tech hype and the future of technology, medical simulation and education and perseverance,” Ms Sarif told the GDN.
“These topics aim to empower individuals to become information chemists, building the kind of social capital that drives real and measurable impact.”
The speaker lineup includes National Security Adviser, Royal Guard Commander and Supreme Defence Council secretary general Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who will speak on endurance and leadership; Tourism Minister Fatima Al Sairafi, who will address compassion and policy; and Omani royal family member and Whispers of Serenity founder Sayyida Basma AlSaid who will explore mental health and healing.

TED talks began as conferences around Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) in 1984 and now encompass almost all topics, from science to business and global issues. TEDx events open up this format to local, independently organised events.
Talks from TEDx are typically recorded and later published on the TEDx YouTube channel or the TED website, extending their reach beyond the live audience.
The TEDxDilmun programme also features performances by award-winning multi-platinum recording artist Mia Martina and local Bahraini artist YAD Oud.
As an independently organised event, TEDxDilmun aims to cultivate impactful ideas and spark dialogue within Bahrain through a curated lineup of speakers, interactive audience experiences and an immersive event environment.
