Bahrain and Pakistan have explored new opportunities to build on their historic partnership and meet their shared aspirations.
The strength of these relations were under the spotlight as His Majesty King Hamad, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, held talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at Safriya Palace yesterday.
Prime Minister Sharif also held separate talks with HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who welcomed him earlier on his arrival at the airport.
The King emphasised Bahrain’s support for Pakistan’s security and commended its management of internal and sovereign affairs.
He expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s support of Bahrain’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council.
His Majesty highlighted Pakistan’s principled stance towards Bahrain, as well as its key role in supporting Arab and Islamic causes.
Regional and international developments of mutual interest were also reviewed, with both sides emphasising the importance of supporting efforts to consolidate regional and global peace.
In recognition of the Pakistan Prime Minister’s efforts in developing relations between the two countries, His Majesty awarded him the Order of Bahrain (Wisam Al Bahrain), First Class.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing co-operation across all sectors.
Following the meeting, His Majesty hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting leader.
During his meeting, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasised mutual commitment to advance co-operation across various sectors in line with the visions of His Majesty.
He commended the vital role the Pakistani community in advancing the kingdom’s development.
HRH Prince Salman commended Pakistan’s support for Bahrain’s candidacy as a member of the Security Council.
He also emphasised Pakistan’s prominent role, alongside allied countries, in safeguarding global security, as well as its support for Arab and Islamic causes.
An official reception ceremony was held for the visiting leader, during which the Bahraini and Pakistani national anthems were played.
Present at the airport for the welcoming ceremony were Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani and Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
