The holiday season officially kicked off in Manama last night as the InterContinental Bahrain held its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, transforming the hotel lobby into a truly dazzling winter spectacle under the theme ‘The Pearl of Wonderland’.
The centerpiece of the event, of course, was the towering, beautifully adorned Christmas tree. However, the real heart of the celebration came courtesy of the immensely talented St Christopher’s Junior School Choir. Their voices filled the grand lobby as they stood on the stairs, offering a moving selection of festive carols. Their performance was truly stellar, captivating the gathered crowd of families and hotel guests and building the anticipation for the evening’s main highlight.
The evening crescendoed as the choir concluded their final song and following the countdown, the majestic tree burst to life, bathed in shimmering lights. Shortly after Santa Claus made his grand, much-anticipated entrance before he sat in his sleigh to meet and greet the audibly excited children with some gifts.
Guests were treated to an array of complimentary delicious festive bites and drinks that ensured everyone felt instantly welcomed.
There was a life-size gingerbread house featuring an array of delicacies mastered up by the talented pastry chefs.
Attendees included InterContinental Bahrain’s regional general manager Philipp Economou, hotel manager Sanad Mohammed, food & beverage director Alex Buytaert and cluster director of marketing Priya Shankar, alongside hotel management and staff at the tree lighting ceremony.
Speaking to the GDN, Mr Economou said: “We are thrilled to officially usher in the festive season, which began beautifully with the St Christopher’s Junior School Choir at our tree lighting.
