The opening ceremony of Mara’ee 2025 featured a rich programme of artistic and heritage performances.
A traditional cultural show by the Royal Guard and Al Kerri Team, with support from the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, set the tone for the evening, followed by a captivating equestrian performance from the Republic of Azerbaijan that received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
His Majesty King Hamad expressed admiration for the precision and skill demonstrated by the Azerbaijani equestrian performers, emphasising that their participation reflected the strong ties between the two nations and ‘the importance of exchanging such activities to promote the development of equestrian sports’.
Artists Mohammed Al Bakri and Mohammed Al Tamimi then performed a patriotic song titled Lah Majdak written by poet Younis Salman and composed by Abdullah Abdul Majeed.
The ceremony concluded with a large-scale equestrian ‘Ardha’ show presented by the Royal Guard, the Bahrain Ardha Association and Al Kerri Team.
His Majesty then presented awards to the winners of the various Mara’ee competitions, before honouring the institutions and companies that supported this year’s event.
Members of the Supreme Organising Committee also had the honour of greeting His Majesty, after which Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak presented a special commemorative gift to the King.
In a message filled with pride and devotion, Mr Al Mubarak said:
“Your vision is our guiding light, Your Majesty, and your wisdom our inspiration. With your leadership, our flag rises higher and our goals become reality. To you, we pledge renewed loyalty and an unbroken covenant. May you remain Bahrain’s steadfast captain and beloved King.”
His Majesty praised the continued success of Mara’ee since its inception, describing it as a clear affirmation of Bahrain’s regional leadership in hosting specialised exhibitions that strengthen the national economy and attract investment into agricultural and livestock industries.
He also commended the strong participation of local companies and institutions, noting their commitment to preserving and advancing local production, and to benefiting from the latest global technologies in this vital sector.
His Majesty highlighted the value of the cultural and entertainment activities accompanying the exhibition, which attract wide audiences from Bahrain and abroad, thanking all national efforts that contributed to the success of this year’s edition and previous ones.
The King was then bid farewell with the same warmth and respect with which he had been received.
