BASKETBALL – MANAMA edged past Nuwaidrat 86-83 last night in the 2025-26 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.
Manama staved off a late surge from their opponents, who got to within two points at 82-84 with just 35 seconds to play. But Subah Hussain and Ali Jaber both split their charity shots, helping keep the victors in front until the final buzzer.
Manama battled back from as many as 13 points behind in the first half, and never trailed after the break. Their biggest lead of the night was 10 early in the third period.
Backcourt tandem Ahmed Salman and Hassan Nowrooz top scored for Manama with 26 and 21 points, respectively, with both players burying four three-pointers apiece. Hussain and Emran Hasan chipped in with 14 each.
Nuwaidrat were paced by the 25 points of Quinton Rose, while Murtadha Salman added 15 in defeat.
Manama maintained their perfect record in three games with the result to begin the new premier league season, while Nuwaidrat suffered their third loss in four outings.
In another game yesterday in the BBA’s League B, Al Ettihad outclassed Bahrain Club 81-71.
Ettihad claimed their third straight win in the season’s lower tier, while Bahrain Club were handed their third defeat in four tries.
