MPs propose to ban delivery motorcycles on main roads
Trust me, delivery bikes aren’t the biggest reason we have traffic problems, it’s the paranoid housewife, the 75-year-old grandpa and the crew-supervisor in the rundown pickup/six-wheel that are slowing down the fast/passover lanes and refusing to budge! We need stricter enforcement of laws regarding the use of appropriate lanes, the strict implementation of the yellow box system and zero-tolerance crackdown on the use of mobile phones while driving, and 40 per cent of the congestion will end right there.

If these motorists were Europeans then the discussion would be on ‘new bikers lane on main road.’

Food BD4. Delivery BD3. Service charge BD1. Delivery time: 1h 45m.

Yes, this’ll really help local business continue to grow and keep people in employment. Why not consider reviewing the wider problem and implementing long term, sustainable and achievable solutions?

If motorcycles obey the law, then it’s not a problem. Currently some of them don’t follow the rules, just yesterday I got cut off by two Talabat motorcycles.

As a local, I don’t think the MPs have thought about the effect it will have on small businesses and restaurants. Most of the restaurants in Bahrain depend on these drivers/applications. I do believe that different laws or regulations should be kept as we all know that some drive recklessly and majority break the rules. But that doesn’t mean banning them completely is the solution.

Ban cyclists on the main road.
@armenia_slovakia
Instead of banning delivery motorcycles on main roads, why not punish them for their unlawful behaviour on the road? Then they would change their habits. They break the law because they can get away with it, without getting caught.
@nickjaug
It’s a good step towards better safety. But these riders already go one-way most of the time on the inside roads. After this decision, it is going to be worse. And if you confront them, they start fighting with you on the rules, as if going one-way is their sole right. One driver actually abused me last week after I confronted him for violating rules in Gudaibiya.
