FOOTBALL – THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) announced last night the dates for the next matchweek in the 2025-26 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League and the semi-finals of the 2025-26 His Majesty the King’s Cup.
Round 17 of league play is scheduled to be held from April 2 to 4, with two fixtures per evening at both the National Stadium in Riffa and Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
On April 2, Al Shabab face Al Najma while A’ali take on Bahrain Club. The next night, Budaiya take on Hidd while defending champions Muharraq go up against Sitra. On April 4, Riffa take on Al Khaldiya in a mouth-watering clash while Al Ahli lock horns with Malkiya.
The BFA also announced the schedules for matchweeks 18 and 19, which will take place from April 16 to 18 and from April 27 to 29, respectively.
Meanwhile, the His Majesty the King’s Cup semi-finals are scheduled for April 10 and 11. On April 10, holders Khaldiya go up against Riffa while Muharraq take on Ahli the following evening.
Both games are to be played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium, with 5.20pm kick-offs.
Also yesterday, the BFA announced the cancellation of the remaining age-group football competitions for the 2025-26 season.
The BFA said that the decision was made in co-ordination with its member clubs, given the current circumstances in the region.
The BFA added that it is in appreciation of the great challenges faced by the teams, the most prominent of which is the difficulty of gathering players for daily training, in addition to the limited time and logistical obstacles faced in organising games in a regular manner.
The BFA emphasised that prioritising public interest and maintaining everyone’s safety remains the top priority, and thanked the clubs for their understanding and cooperation in overcoming this phase.
