Move to ban delivery bikes from main roads continues
Banning isn’t the solution to the problem of delivery bikes on the main road. Enforce the law strictly to change their driving behaviour. In other countries, delivery bikes have no problem using the main roads as long as they are following the rules.
@nickjaug
In my opinion, the problem is not only with delivery riders although they are part of it as well. Many of them cannot drive properly, they do not know or follow real traffic rules, and the biggest issue is that they do not keep to the right. Instead of banning them, there should be specific laws and penalties that require them to ride only in the outer/right lane. In most cases, they weave through the middle lanes, slalom back and forth, and completely block the flow of traffic.
The ‘keep right’ rule should apply everywhere, including highways, and it should apply to everyone. People who drive at 50 or 60 kmph across all three lanes – especially when they drive side by side at the same slow speed – should be penalised. This behaviour severely slows down traffic.

Let them use the pavements.

Drop it. Seriously. This is ridiculous.
@sarah_husain
So are they going to drive on the foothpaths? Or in the sea?
@_salmann40
What about all the other reckless drivers on the road? It’s not just delivery drivers. Maybe try and fix the overall problem instead of singling out one group.
@fromsnowballstosandcastles
Someone comes up every second week with new rules, but there are not enough police officers to follow it up. Cars still use emergency lanes, people drive sometimes with two phones in the hand instead of the standard one, they still cut the line at the exits and cause traffic jams at highways. Cameras are not the solution if people are fined days or weeks later. It doesn’t have the effect on them. An immediate stop, fine and the loss of time will make them think about it. Train the police to enforce the existing rules, that will make Bahrain’s roads safer.

Why blame the motorcycle? Blame it on all the crazy drivers.
Mateo Singko
Why does the blame so often fall solely on motorcyclists? Delivery riders did not suddenly become a nuisance without cause. There is a reason behind their behaviour: they are paid negligible wages, and most of their income depends entirely on the number of trips they complete. The companies profit, while these riders are pushed to risk not only their own lives but everyone else’s just to make ends meet. If safety is truly the concern, then we must ask the harder question: why are delivery companies not required to provide decent wages? Fair pay would reduce the pressure to rush, overtake dangerously and break traffic rules simply to survive.
Now let’s talk about car drivers who have no lane discipline, some poor souls have no idea that their cars are equipped with something called indicators, which when used give other drivers some idea where they are heading. But why use them? Keep people guessing. Drinking, eating, talking on phone, few brave ones even try their hands on writing mails, why not! Girls doing their makeup while driving, I mean where do they get these skills from?
Children hanging out the windows, parents have no concern whatsoever. Drivers using hard shoulders and even emergency lanes as short cuts, blocking them entirely. These actions are not minor infractions – they are dangerous violations that put countless lives at risk.
Such behaviour also shows how as a society we lack patience, empathy, respect and discipline – not only towards others but towards ourselves also.
Madhu Birla
What difference will this make, try cracking down on idiotic drivers and people on phones. Understand some of these drivers have no clue about driving. Might be worth having correct lessons and driving test before allowing them on the road? The issues isn’t the bikes!
