THREE members of a Bahraini family have died in a horrific head-on collision in Sakhir.
Ahmed Al Shuwaikh, 31, his wife Hawra Maki, 29, and their eight-year-old daughter Reem lost their lives in the accident which also left several others injured yesterday.
According to reports, the family was enjoying a peaceful outing in the desert before the day took a devastating turn. The accident resulted in the immediate death of the parents and their daughter at the scene, leaving their relatives and all who followed the heartbreaking incident, shaken and deeply saddened.
The injured have been transferred to the hospital for treatment and an official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Officials have urged desert-goers to strictly adhere to traffic safety regulations, avoid dangerous overtaking, and comply with designated speed limits. They stressed that such precautions are essential to safeguarding lives and property, particularly in desert areas that experience heavy traffic during weekend holidays.
Burials will be held tomorrow, according to relatives.
Meanwhile, a driver has been arrested for allegedly endangering road users by performing stunt driving in Demistan. The General Directorate of Traffic made the arrest after a video of the incident circulated on social media. Legal action has since been initiated against the individual.
