Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani commended Bahrain’s participation in the signing of the Peace Board Charter, undertaken on the directive of His Majesty King Hamad and represented by Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The ceremony was held at the invitation and in the presence of US President Donald Trump, alongside representatives of board member states.
The Foreign Minister said the signing of the founding charter by Shaikh Isa alongside other countries, marking the formal launch of the Peace Board as an international body, reflected Bahrain’s balanced and forward-looking diplomatic approach under the leadership of the King, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
He affirmed that this approach is rooted in Bahrain’s firm support for the Palestinian cause, the pursuit of a just and lasting peace, and the promotion of sustainable development at regional and global levels.
Dr Al Zayani expressed Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic efforts and initiatives led by Trump and its support for the implementation of the comprehensive peace plan for the Gaza Strip. This includes sustaining the ceasefire, ensuring humanitarian access, supporting reconstruction, and fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state, in accordance with UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative and the two-state solution.
He also underscored the pride of the kingdom in the historical and strategic partnership with the US within the framework of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement, (C-SIPA) and their shared commitment to laying the foundations for security, peace, and sustainable development for the peoples of the region and the world at large.
He added that Bahrain, through its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and its membership of the Peace Board, will continue to contribute actively and responsibly to international efforts, in co-ordination with the United Nations, to strengthen peace, stability, and multilateral co-operation, and to promote dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence worldwide.
