Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani took part in a roundtable dialogue in Washington organised by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies.
The meeting was attended by Bahrain’s Ambassador to the US Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa.
Dr Al Zayani highlighted the long-standing ties and partnership between Bahrain and the US. He said the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) reflects this partnership and provides frameworks to enhance military and trade co-operation, economic integration and technological collaboration.
The Foreign Minister said Bahrain, under the leadership and vision of His Majesty King Hamad, and the directives of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is committed to achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace for all peoples of the region.
He noted that this commitment includes promoting a safe, stable and prosperous environment and resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomatic means.
He added that Bahrain has agreed to join as a founding member of the proposed Board of Peace put forward by US President Donald Trump with the aim of advancing practical steps towards stability, reconstruction and recovery in the Gaza Strip and other conflict-affected countries in the region.
Dr Al Zayani noted that the kingdom signed a peace agreement in 2020, which he highlighted as a development that marked a shift in the regional diplomatic landscape and opened a new path towards a Middle East based on coexistence and co-operation.
The dialogue session addressed US efforts to achieve lasting peace in Gaza and to support reconstruction and recovery through the proposed Board of Peace.
Participants also discussed regional and international developments and their implications for regional and global security and stability.
Dr Al Zayani also attended an event in Washington organised to promote the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment 2026.
The event was attended by Dr Sima Sami Bahous, UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director and chair of the award’s international jury; Shaikh Abdulla, embassy staff and guests.
Dr Al Zayani in his speech emphasised the global prestige of the award and its role in celebrating women’s leadership and inspiring progress worldwide.
The minister highlighted Bahrain’s long-standing regional leadership in promoting women’s rights and participation, expressing pride in the achievements of Bahraini women who hold senior leadership positions across government, the private sector, and society.
