Bahrain has held a grand celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of its National Action Charter.
His Majesty King Hamad, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attended the celebrations at the National Action Charter Monument in Sakhir yesterday.
Senior members of the Royal Family were also present at the event, organised annually by the Education Ministry.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma, along with ministry officials.
The event began with the national anthem and a Quran recitation, followed by four artistic and musical performances by students from Shaikh Abdul Aziz Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Secondary School for Boys.
The King expressed appreciation to the ministry and its staff for organising the annual celebration.
He commended the students’ participation, noting that it reflects the values instilled through citizenship education.
His Majesty also commended the ministry’s efforts in fostering national identity and strengthening a sense of belonging among students.
Dr Juma extended his congratulations to the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on the occasion.
The Education Minister further noted that, following the guidance of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to put into immediate effect His Majesty’s directive declaring ‘Year of Isa Al Kabeer’, the ministry has commenced updating and expanding the curricula to cover the life and achievements of His Highness Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Ruler of Bahrain and its dependencies.
This includes broadening lessons and materials that document Bahrain’s history since the founding of the modern state in 1783 by Shaikh Ahmed Al Fateh, thereby strengthening national identity and instilling knowledge of the kingdom’s history in students.
He highlighted that this year’s National Action Charter celebrations are themed ‘Isa Al Kabeer’, forming a central element of the programme.
The event involved more than 3,000 students from schools across Bahrain and was followed by tens of thousands of students and their parents.
The minister added that His Majesty’s presence and his interaction with the students serve as a significant recognition and an encouragement for them to continue their efforts.
Dr Juma further noted the government’s commitment to education, underscoring its role in equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed for innovation and professional success.
