A man who injured three people and damaged several cars in Giza, Egypt, has been arrested.
The arrest came after he attempted to flee from a crowd of citizens who had noticed an Israeli flag sticker displayed on the windshield of his car.
The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and motives behind the suspect’s provocative actions.
The incident began when the suspect was driving along a busy street in Kerdasa, Giza.
Passersby noticed the Israeli flag on his windshield, which angered them and sparked a heated verbal confrontation.
As the crowd around the vehicle grew, the driver tried to escape, speeding recklessly through the area. In his attempt to flee, he ran over several pedestrians and crashed into multiple parked vehicles, causing injuries and significant property damage.
An eyewitness said residents tried to stop the vehicle and demanded that the driver remove the provocative flag.
"However, the driver’s reaction was unexpected and violent; he began driving erratically and recklessly through the crowded area,” he added.
“This reckless driving caused the car to hit several pedestrians who were in the road, as well as damage a number of parked cars. Several people sustained injuries and were immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.”
Residents pursued the driver, apprehended him, and prevented his escape before handing him over to the police.
