Hotel establishments in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been instructed to extend all necessary support to tourists impacted by widespread flight cancellations and delays.
According to a report by Khaleej Times, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has directed hotels to offer stranded visitors the option to extend their stay under the same conditions as their initial booking. The department emphasised that no guests should be evicted under these circumstances and requested that hotels provide notification if a guest is unable to cover their costs.
Additionally, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism has directed hotels across the capital to extend the stays of guests unable to travel. The authority confirmed it will cover the costs of these additional nights.
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) previously announced that the country would cover all accommodation and sustenance costs for affected passengers.
These measures come as major Middle Eastern hubs, including Dubai and Doha, remain closed for a third day, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded in one of the most significant aviation shocks in recent years.
