Six expatriates – five Pakistani nationals and a Bangladeshi – have been arrested after they allegedly filmed, published and republished video clips of Iranian strikes, expressed sympathy for them and glorified the acts in a manner that harms security and public order.
The men were apprehended by the Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security’s Cybercrime Directorate following investigations.
The clips were reportedly circulated through their social media accounts, contributing to misleading public opinion and spreading fear among citizens and residents.
The five Pakistani nationals were identified by the authorities as Afdel Khan, Mohamed Akbar, Ahmed Mumtaz, Arslan Sajid and Abdulrahman Abdulsattar, while the Bangladeshi defendant was named as Mohamed Mir.
Necessary legal procedures have been taken and the arrested individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
The Interior Ministry urged people to obtain information from official sources and to refrain from circulating or reposting unreliable videos or news in order to avoid legal accountability and to preserve the security and safety of the nation.
