Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani yesterday received a phone call from Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
The two sides discussed the latest regional developments, including the continued Iranian attacks against the GCC states and other Arab countries, and their serious implications for regional security and stability, including maritime security.
They also discussed means to enhance co-operation and co-ordination between the two kingdoms in order to mobilise international support and backing, in addition to exchanging views on issues and topics of mutual interest.
The Foreign Minister received another phone call from Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Shaikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
They discussed the latest regional developments, including the continued Iranian attacks, and aspects of co-operation and co-ordination in international forums.
Dr Al Zayani received a third telephone call from his Thai counterpart Sihasak Phuangketkeow. The call addressed the Iranian attack on Bahrain.
The Thai Foreign Minister expressed Thailand’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks against Bahrain using missiles and drones, and the resulting loss of lives and property. He conveyed Thailand’s solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for the measures undertaken to protect its security and stability and to safeguard the safety of its citizens and residents.
He also noted the close relations of cooperation between the two countries across various domains, wishing Bahrain continued security, peace, and stability.
Dr Al Zayani expressed his appreciation to the Thai Foreign Minister for the sentiments of solidarity expressed towards the Kingdom in light of the Iranian missile attacks against Bahrain, as well as for Thailand’s support for the measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security and stability. He also highlighted the strong relations between the two countries.
The Foreign Minister further expressed Bahrain’s solidarity with Thailand following the Iranian shelling of a Thai cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz last week, which resulted in a fire aboard the vessel, the loss of three sailors, and the evacuation of others. He wished the injured sailors a speedy recovery and extended his wishes for continued security, progress, and prosperity to Thailand and its people.
