Parliament has unanimously condemned Israel’s continued closure of the Al Aqsa Mosque.
MPs also approved another statement marking Arab Human Rights Day.
The two statements were approved during yesterday’s session, with Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam tasked with issuing them on behalf of MPs.
The first statement, led by MP Bader Al Tamimi, denounces the closure of Al Aqsa Mosque for more than two weeks and the prevention of worshippers from performing prayers.
Mr Al Tamimi described the development as ‘a grave and unacceptable escalation that violates the sanctity of one of Islam’s holiest sites and the fundamental right to worship’.
“Parliament’s unanimous stance sends a clear message that Bahrain stands firmly with the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights,” he said. “The continued closure of Al Aqsa Mosque is not only a religious concern, but a humanitarian and political issue that demands urgent international attention.”
He stressed that the statement reflects both the official and popular position in Bahrain, calling for immediate action to ensure access to the mosque and to halt violations against Palestinian worshippers.
The second statement, led by Mr Al Musallam, marks Arab Human Rights Day and highlights Bahrain’s commitment to advancing human rights principles at both national and regional levels.
MPs emphasised that the occasion serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding dignity, justice and freedoms, while continuing to strengthen legislative and institutional frameworks that uphold these values.
Mr Al Tamimi noted that the timing of the two statements carries particular significance. “It is important to reaffirm both our unwavering support for oppressed peoples and our commitment to human rights as a universal principle,” he said.
