In response to social media posts circulating regarding the death of Mohammed Abdulmohsen Mohammed, 32, the Ministry of Interior confirms that the relevant authorities have launched an investigation into this matter.
The investigation established that the deceased had been detained by the National Intelligence Agency on charges of espionage, specifically providing information and intelligence to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps relating to critical national infrastructure, with the intent of facilitating attacks against the Kingdom. He had been detained pursuant to a lawfully issued arrest warrant.
The Ministry further clarifies that images circulating on social media purporting to show injuries sustained by the deceased are inaccurate and misleading and have been deliberately disseminated to mislead public opinion.
The matter has been referred to the Special Investigation Unit of the Public Prosecution, which has been tasked with conducting a full and independent investigation into the circumstances of the injuries and the cause of death.
