MMA – BRAVE Combat Federation, the world’s fastest-growing and most international mixed martial arts (MMA) organisation, announced yesterday the addition of a compelling women’s strawweight contest to its upcoming event, scheduled for June 6 at Hala Tivoli in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to be held in partnership with World Freefight Challenge.
Slovenia’s own Monika ‘Pitbull’ Kucinic is set to collide with Russia’s Marina ‘Armata’ Merchuk in a bout that carries major implications for the division’s hierarchy.
“I am thrilled to return to action with BRAVE CF and to perform in front of my fellow Slovenians,” said Kucinic.
“Competing on home soil always brings a different level of energy, and facing a talented athlete like Marina Merchuk makes this opportunity even more meaningful.
“I am ready to showcase my evolution and put on a memorable performance.”
Merchuk commented: “I am very excited for this matchup. Facing a hometown favourite adds even more motivation for me. I am looking forward to stepping back into the BRAVE CF cage and proving myself against a tough opponent like Monika.”
Kucinic enters the three-round encounter with an unblemished 4-0 slate under the BRAVE CF banner, establishing herself as one of the most promising strawweights in the promotion’s expanding women’s ranks.
Her recent outings in the Bahrain-based combat sports outfit have demonstrated a well-rounded arsenal, highlighted by two emphatic finishes across her last three appearances, reinforcing her reputation as a dynamic mixed martial artist.
Competing in front of a partisan crowd, Kucinic aims to extend her perfect promotional record to 5-0. However, she faces a stern examination in Merchuk, who made an immediate impact in her debut by delivering a composed and technically sound performance against Marina Spasic at BRAVE CF 102 in November of last year.
Originally slated to meet at that same event, their encounter was postponed after Kucinic withdrew due to injury. The rescheduled clash now offers both women a chance to settle unfinished business while positioning themselves for a climb up the strawweight ladder.
The June 6 spectacle will also feature world championship stakes at the highest level. In the main event, reigning BRAVE CF heavyweight world champion Pavel ‘The Experiment’ Dailidko defends his crown against top-ranked challenger Miha Frlic. Meanwhile, the co-main attraction sees Erko ‘The Bounty Hunter’ Jun put his BRAVE CF light heavyweight world title on the line in a rematch against Mohamed ‘L’Ambiance’ Said Maalem.
