Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, met Mohamed Ould Errachid, President of Morocco’s House of Councillors, on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.
The meeting was attended by Jamal Mohamed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, and MP Abdulnabi Salman Nasser, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives.
Discussions focused on the strong and longstanding ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Morocco, and ways to further expand cooperation and parliamentary coordination in support of the shared interests of the two countries and their peoples. Al Musallam praised the continued progress in bilateral relations, supported by the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The meeting also reviewed regional developments. Al Musallam affirmed Bahrain’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, GCC member states, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He noted that Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates had jointly submitted an emergency item to the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly calling for condemnation of the attacks, citing relevant United Nations resolutions that reflect broad international support for regional security and stability.
The Speaker highlighted the importance of closer parliamentary coordination among legislatures worldwide to build unified support for the emergency proposal.
For his part, Ould Errachid welcomed the continued growth of Moroccan-Bahraini relations across all sectors and stressed the importance of sustaining bilateral engagement and parliamentary cooperation to advance mutual interests.
