ASIAN BEACH GAMES – BAHRAIN’S beach handball national team star Bilal Basham will have the honour today of being the kingdom’s flag-bearer in the parade of nations during the highly anticipated opening ceremony of the sixth Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.
This was announced yesterday by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, who said that Basham’s selection was a gesture of appreciation for his efforts and his pivotal role within the kingdom’s squad.
The inauguration festivities are set to be held at Sanya Yasha Park located in Tianya District. It is scheduled for a 3pm start, Bahrain time.
The kingdom’s delegation in the multi-sport spectacle includes 42 members, headlined by their 20 athletes.
They are among nearly 2,000 sportsmen and women representing 45 National Olympic Committees who are taking part in this year’s Asian Beach Games, which is being held for the first time in a decade.
