Three landmark institutions representing worship, healthcare and education in Bahrain have come together to launch a new initiative celebrating the Year of Isa Al Kabeer.
Titled ‘The Faith Triangle’, the initiative is led by This Is Bahrain in partnership with the National Evangelical Church, the American Mission Hospital, and Al Raja School Bahrain – three institutions which were established during the reign of the late HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa (Isa Al Kabeer), widely regarded as the architect of modern Bahrain.
Opening the event, This is Bahrain Chairperson Betsy Mathieson described the initiative as ‘a story and a legacy’, adding that it reflects ‘who we are as a nation, built on mutual respect, faith and unity’.
She described the ‘Faith Triangle’ as three landmark institutions forming a symbolic map of Manama – representing worship, healthcare and education – built on a shared origin and enduring vision. “Three institutions, one origin, one vision,” she said.
She also announced that the National Evangelical Church will celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2026, with official commemorations scheduled for October.
Speakers included US Ambassador Stephanie Hallett, Dr Blaine Newhouse of the National Evangelical Church, Dr George Cheriyan of the American Mission Hospital, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Salman Al Khalifa, board chairman of Al Raja School. They all highlighted Bahrain’s longstanding record of religious tolerance and its regional role as a model of coexistence.
Ms Mathieson also paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, praising Bahrain’s leadership for ensuring that religious freedom is “lived, not simply spoken about.”
The Faith Triangle was inaugurated on Thursday evening at an event held at the InterContinental Bahrain. It concluded with a dinner attended by dignitaries, media representatives and community leaders, underscoring Bahrain’s message of unity across faiths.
