Five people who sold energy drinks to minors have been fined between BD50 to BD100 by the Lower Criminal Court.
The Public Health Directorate had submitted a complaint to the Public Prosecution about a number of stores selling energy drinks to children.
The drinks contained high concentrations of caffeine and taurine and are illegal to sell them to anyone under the age of 18.
Those responsible were charged with and convicted of selling energy drinks to minors.
In the statement, the prosecution warned store owners and employees to abide by the law and to accept that the drinks are ‘not suitable for children’ for health reasons.
