BAHRAIN’S housing and urban planning programmes have been outlined at a global forum in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Housing and Urban Planning Ministry’s developer affairs relations director Ahmed Kamel Ahmed Al Sharaf made the presentation on the Government Land Development Programme during a specialised session during the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The session was organised by the GCC General Secretariat.
He said the programme includes seven projects aimed at delivering more than 4,000 housing units between 2024 and 2027 through partnerships with the private sector.
Mr Al Sharaf also reviewed Bahrain’s urban planning and housing financing programmes, including off plan sales initiatives linked to housing development projects.
The ministry’s institutional excellence and innovation head Amina Majid presented Bahrain’s housing policy and financing programmes during a workshop featuring 29 countries.
She said more than 21,000 Bahraini families benefited from the new programmes including Tasheel, Tasheel+ and Mazaya, which contributed to reducing waiting lists and supporting the economy through financing exceeding BD1.9 billion.
The ministry also showcased the Khalifa City Master Plan and Bahrain’s housing policy development through UN-Habitat’s digital platform.
