Government Hospitals chief executive officer Dr Mariam Al Jalahma inaugurated an awareness platform on colorectal diseases, organised by the Government Hospitals in co-operation with the Bahrain Association of Coloproctology at Marassi Galleria Bahrain in Diyar Al Muharraq yesterday.
The platform, which closes today, aims to raise public awareness of colorectal diseases, highlight the importance of prevention and early detection, correct common misconceptions, and provide direct medical consultations by specialised doctors and consultants.
Dr Al Jalahma said the platform reflects Government Hospitals’ commitment to promoting public health and expanding community outreach initiatives that reach members of the public in their places of presence, contributing to higher health awareness and encouraging early screening.
She added that early detection of colorectal cancer is key to improving treatment outcomes and recovery rates, noting that government hospitals continue to support preventive and awareness programmes alongside the delivery of integrated healthcare services.
Bahrain Association of Coloproctology president Dr Isra Salman said the platform aims to directly engage with the public, answer their questions, and provide simplified and reliable medical information on colorectal diseases, including their symptoms, risk factors and prevention methods. She added that prevention and awareness form a key pillar in improving early intervention and treatment opportunities.
She urged members of the community to visit the platform during the event and benefit from the medical consultations and awareness activities on offer.
The platform also features the latest statistics and results from Government Hospitals’ colorectal cancer screening campaign, supporting national efforts to enhance public awareness, promote preventive healthcare and build a more health-conscious society.
