Gulf Youth Day marks an important occasion to celebrate the distinguished achievements of youth in the GCC states, which have contributed to advancing development and strengthening their position as a global model in empowering young people and investing in their potential, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has affirmed.
His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian works and youth affairs noted that these achievements are an extension of the wise visions of His Majesty and the leaders of the GCC states.
He explained that the continuous support and patronage provided to the youth by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has contributed to creating an environment that supports and encourages creativity and innovation, enabling young people to transform their ideas and aspirations into initiatives, projects and achievements.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said Bahraini youth are a leading example across various domains, particularly in sport.
“Bahrain’s youth demonstrated their potential at the 4th GCC Games, recently held in Doha, where they won 63 medals, including 25 golds,” he emphasised.
“The achievement reflects the progress of Bahraini sport and the success of efforts to invest in young talent and develop athletes capable of competing at the highest levels.”
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance board of trustees chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa affirmed the pivotal role played by youth in promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and dialogue as a deeply rooted civilisational approach.
He further noted their role in promoting the values of mutual respect and human coexistence in the face of hate speech, extremism, and terrorism.
He pointed out that the centre is committed to empowering youth to carry the message of coexistence with love and peace through its specialised programmes and initiatives. These include the King Hamad Leadership in Coexistence Programme, the Joint Postgraduate Diploma on Coexistence, the King Hamad Chair in Inter-Faith Dialogue and Coexistence at Sapienza University of Rome, and other initiatives that are aligned with the principles of the Bahrain Declaration on Religious Freedom and the noble objectives of the centre’s initiative adopted by the UN establishing International Day of Peaceful Coexistence.
Youth Minister Rawan Tawfiqi highlighted that Gulf Youth Day is an opportunity to celebrate a generation that has shown that age is not a measure of achievement.
“One of the defining qualities of Gulf youth is their belief in their ability to make a difference. Every success story began with an idea, every achievement with a first step, and every major transformation with a young man or woman choosing to be part of the solution rather than part of the challenge,” she added.
Institute of Public Administration director general Dr Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa noted youths’ achievements in innovation, technology, entrepreneurship and leadership.
